African Music and Cultural Festival the largest of its kind in Australia

The largest annual African festival in Australia will return to Melbourne once again this December, showcasing an amazing array of vibrant music, dancing, diverse arts, cultural performances and authentic African food that transports visitors to Africa. The African Music and Cultural Festival is a free event for families featuring cultural performances, fashion shows and traditional music.

The event works to promote the cultural diversity in Australia by creating a greater awareness of African peoples and traditions. It aims to contribute to community cohesiveness by breaking down barriers to the social and cultural understanding of the African Australian community in Victoria.

This year marks the event’s fifth anniversary and has grown significantly since the first event. In 2016, the African Music and Cultural Festival attracted over 36,000 visitors and the 2017 event drew crowds of around 40,000 people. Check out all the highlights from 2017 event HERE.
