The Indonesian community in Australia is a fast-growing community segment. Across Australia, there were over 53,000 people of Indonesian ancestry in 2016, with this number set to grow to nearly 75,000 by 2021. In the state of Victoria alone, the number of people in the Indonesian community is set to grow to over 16,000 by 2021.

With an aim to promote greater diversity and inclusion across the wider city of Melbourne, the Indonesian Film Festival (IFF) is bringing some of the biggest films from the nation to Australian shores.

“Held annually in Melbourne, IFF is managed by a non-profit organisation, Indonesian Film Festival (IFF) Inc., which aims to promote the appreciation of Indonesian culture in Australia, as well as raising international awareness of the burgeoning Indonesian film culture,” their website reads.

The 14th Indonesian Film Festival will be showcasing an electric range of commercial and art house cinema, from a particular corner of the globe often known for its striking beauty and rich culture.

“With this year’s theme, ‘An Enchantment of Authenticity’, we have the objective of celebrating the originality of Indonesian culture and cinematography. We believe Indonesian cinematography has its own unique originality, which made each of the movie authentic.”
