Bonjour Sydney: The Bastille Festival 2019 is nearly here!
The French are returning to Sydney this year to celebrate their seventh Bastille Festival anniversary, bringing Sydney-siders a culturally unique gathering from July 11 to 14, 2019.
The four-day French festival will feature cultural food, wine, and art revolution, held in Sydney’s popular Circular Quay and The Rocks.
This year, the festival aims to be the greenest Food & Wine festival in Australia.
Their 10-point plan includes banning non-recyclable packaging from the Festival, and with the help of Transport NSW, they are encouraging the use of public transport.
The free event will host many French favourites, with 56 food and wine stalls from nine different countries, an open-air cinema with daily screenings of ten French cult movies, and more.
New to the festival this year is The Family-Friendly French Village, located just in front of the Overseas Passenger Terminal, which is a family fun village, complete with a vintage carousel, and a selection of food trucks serving carnival foods for the kids to enjoy.
Some of the returning villages include:
The Parisian Foodie Village
Located in front of Customs House, it will be packed with all the traditional French foodie treats, such as raclette, crepes, saucisson, fresh baguettes, soups, croque-monsieur and more.
The Gourmet Produce Alley
Beneath the Cahill Expressway is where you’ll find all of the fancy take-home gifts, such as truffles, mustards, French linen, candies, and biscuits.
First Fleet Park
Next to the MCA will be the home to the Festival’s main entertainment stage. There is also a selection of restaurants, who will once again be delivering their specialty dishes but giving everything a unique French fusion twist.
Le Mulled Wine Cinema
Located on the grassy area in front of the Museum of Contemporary Art, will be an intimate outdoor winter cinema that’s returning with all of your French cinema favourites, together with a private, hot mulled wine bar, fresh popcorn, and other cinema sweets.
The Rocks Christmas in July Village
Located on Argyle Street, The Rocks, is said be double its size than last year, with triple the amount of Christmas decorations.
