Brisbane’s biggest Filipino festival is back!

Queensland’s biggest Filipino festival is back on this year, in celebration of the Philippines’ 120th anniversary since independence.

The Brisbane Barrio Fiesta will take place at the Rocklea Showgrounds on June 10 and will boast a colourful schedule of cultural performances, food stalls, music and fashion.

The festival is organised by the Federation of Filipino Communities Queensland, the state’s biggest not-for-profit Filipino community organisation and umbrella body. The volunteers in the organisation work together to service the growing Filipino community in the Sunshine State, by providing a united voice for the diaspora and encouraging their participation in the social, political, economic and other aspects of Queensland Society and the multicultural society as a whole.

The Brisbane Barrio Fiesta was first established in 2014 and has grown significantly to become the state’s premier event for Filipinos. This year, the organising committee has also introduced a new feature to make the day more convenient for festival-goers, by creating an interactive map of the festival for easy navigation of the event.
