MIKTA is a ‘middle power’ diplomatic partnership between Mexico, Indonesia, Republic of Korea, Turkey and Australia led by the Foreign Ministers of each country. The Chair of MIKTA rotates annually. In 2016, Australia hosted the eighth MIKTA Foreign Ministers Meeting in Sydney and Canberra.
Our challenge was to engage the five communities together in Canberra and Sydney as part of Football Federation Australia (FFA) and the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFAT) commitment to encouraging female participation in football.
We needed to create and execute a community engagement, media and marketing program to engage the target communities. Two female football programs involving the ‘Miniroos’ were hosted in Sydney and Canberra which included the attendance of ministers.
We provided Multicultural Advisory services to FFA and DFAT that involved successful community engagement strategies involving local community female football clubs, community leaders and media representing the MIKTA nations.
Fifty community leaders in Sydney and Canberra were engaged to promote the key messages on the female programs implemented through MIKTA by FFA and DFAT. The program saw over 500 attendees in total across both events, 100,000 media reach across 14 community media outlets.
