Buddha Birthday Festival 2018 a spiritual celebration
Returning to Darling Harbour once more, the FGS Nan Tien Temple and Buddha’s Light International Association (BLIA) celebrates the birthday of Buddha over a two-day festival.
The event showcases the diversity of Australia’s multicultural society, where visitors can enjoy a relaxed environment surrounded by a range of displays, entertained by a variety of performances and experience many cultural customs and activities and vegetarian food.
Cultural activities visitors can experience include a blessing ceremony for world peace, the bathing of the Buddha and the Purification of Our Minds Ceremony, and the wishing bell.
The birthday event is a spiritual celebration of the timelessness and universality of Buddha’s teachings, including a fostering of compassion and joyfulness, encouraging freedom of thought and recognising the dignity and potential of the human mind. These teachings are often described to be as relevant today as they were 2,500 years ago.
The Sydney Buddha Birthday Celebrations will run from May 12-13 at Tumbalong Park, Darling Harbour.
