The Australian International Martial Arts Festival returns for its second year
The second Australian International Martial Arts Festival returns this month in Melbourne, and will be held from August 31 to September 1, 2019.
The martial arts community are invited to attend the competition and exchange learning, and as well as martial arts teams from China, many other countries will participate in the festival.
“It’s really a friendly competition and it’s great fun to be involved, it’s a bit of a challenge for a lot of people,” says Su Role, the Vice Chairman and Member of the International Martial Arts Festival organising committee.
In order to praise and encourage athletes from all over the world, the organising committee of the event will present an elite competition, awarding the highest scoring athletes with prizes, in addition to awarding the medals and awards for the 2nd Australia International Martial Arts Festival.
The competition is funded and supported by the Australian Wushu Culture Centre and the Chinese community, with competitors invited from schools all over China and Australia.
Last year, there were around 500 competitors with guest judges and performers from Hong Kong and China. The event was an eye-opener for those who have never had the chance to compete overseas.
This year’s festival promises to be as inspiring as the first event.
“This year [the event] had a little more help with interpreting to get the language across with… letting people know it’s on,” Su says.
Titled ‘The 2nd Australia International Martial Arts Festival 2019’, competitors are being invited from schools all over China and Australia, and is open to all ages, all styles, and from any Wushu background.
If you have attended any of the World Traditional Wushu Festivals over the years, you will now have the chance to experience this type of festival event in Australia.
The closing ceremony for presentation of awards will be held the following evening and will include performances by famous Chinese Masters.
