Zahli: The Lebanese Restaurant serving up delicious culture and tradition in Surry Hills

Dining at a Lebanese restaurant is often not just a culinary experience, but it is also a cultural and social experience. This is certainly the case at Zahli, the modern Lebanese restaurant located in Sydney’s dining precinct of Surry Hills.

As one of Sydney’s top Lebanese restaurants, Zahli is inspired by the Lebanese culture and tradition, making the atmosphere at Zahli extremely welcoming. The restaurant is traditionally decorated with blue mosaic tiles, a marble bar, and a Persian-inspired rug, giving Australian restaurant-goers a taste of this diverse country.

Owned and run by Mohammad Issmail, the restaurant offers delicious traditional recipes inspired by the “banks of Sannine on a warm night”, a mountain area located just a short drive away from Lebanese city Zahlé – the city that Zahli pays homage to in name and food.

“Our Lebanese restaurant will take you on an authentic journey, allowing you to experience the culture of one of Lebanon’s most exemplary regions,” their website reads.

Zahli’s well known vegetarian appetizer ‘Falafel’ is a must-try.

This gourmet snack is deep-fried and filled with chickpeas, beans, onions, and traditional herbs and spices, and is served hot, adding to the crunchiness on the outside, alongside either plain tahini, hummus or garlic sauce.
