After all the ups and downs we’ve seen in the past few weeks, we are convinced with the efforts made by the teams who have made it to the playoffs. It wasn’t easy! Especially for teams like Mumbai Indians who go straight into the grand finals on Sunday, after beating CSK in the Qualifier One yesterday. Sunrisers Hyderabad got lucky to get into the playoffs because Kolkata Knight Riders were not able to register a win in their final (must win) game.

Players have put in their 100% so far, and the wider crew off the field have been working long hours to ensure fair and fine player selection, good player health & wellbeing, and top class training arrangements.

Come what may, one thing’s for sure, the upcoming final games this week are going to be breathtaking.

Qualifier 1: Mumbai Indians v Chennai Super Kings
MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai
7th May 2019

Well… not the best start to the playoffs, especially for the Chennai Super Kings fans. It was a good game overall – very competitive, however, could definitely have been more exciting. Not the best time to be a victim of a top order collapse, the Chennai Super Kings were in all sorts of trouble early-on whilst batting first. M.S. Dhoni and Ambati Rayudu did provide some consolation towards the end, however, it was too late by then. CSK put up a weak total and was always an easily chasable one.

In response, the Mumbai Indians batted averagely, however that was enough whilst chasing a weak total. The Mumbai Indians won comfortably and go directly to the Finals to be played on Sunday.

Team Dhoni will take on the winner of the Eliminator in the Qualifier 2 and if they win that, they will get an opportunity to settle the scores by playing Mumbai Indians again, in the Finals.

Stay tuned to find out which team wins the Vivo IPL 2019.

Qualifier 2: Sunrisers Hyderabad v Delhi Capitals
Dr. Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA – VDCA Cricket Stadium
May 8, 2019

The Delhi Capitals are a strong batting and bowling line-up and can give any team a run for their money. They have been playing some good cricket consistently throughout the tournament and will definitely be bringing their A-game against SRH in Qualifier 2.

The wild card entry Sunrisers Hyderabad were very lucky to make the playoffs, however what’s next? Will they be able to beat the informed and consistent Delhi team? Well… only time will tell.

With most of their inform top-order batsman not playing the tournament anymore (Warner & Bairstow) due to preparations for the ICC World Cup, it will surely be a tough gig for them, however, it’s the IPL and it’s the T20 format, so anything can happen.

The two teams will face off in the IPL 2019 Qualifier 2 and the winning team will then take on the losing team from the Qualifier 1. One of these teams need back-to-back wins to make it to the finals – definitely a mammoth task, yet not impossible.
